Wells Constituency Liberal Democrats Re-Select Tessa Munt as Parliamentary Candidate12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 29th Oct 2006 Wells Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce the re-selection of Tessa Munt as their Parliamentary Candidate. Members voted by an overwhelming majority to support Tessa in her campaign to be the next MP for Wells. Tessa was the Parliamentary candidate in May 2005, polling over 20,000 votes, just 3,000 fewer than the Conservative MP, whose majority fell. Greg King, Wells Chair, said: "I am very pleased that Tessa has been selected to lead our renewed challenge to the Conservatives here. Tessa is hard-working, a formidable campaigner and well-known in this area. She has what it takes to win. Not since the 1980's has this Parliamentary seat been contested twice by the same candidate. So we have the advantage that Tessa is already known here and she's already 'hit the ground running'." Tessa said: "I am thrilled to have been chosen to stand for Parliament here again and want to thank the members for their support. Wells has had a Conservative MP for the last 84 years. That will change! I look forward to joining Somerset's Lib Dem MPs, Jeremy Brown, David Heath and David Laws in Westminster and working with my colleagues to hold the Government to account."
Tessa can be contacted by post at Freepost BS8452, Somerset BA4 4BR; by email on tessa@tessa4wells.com or by telephone on 01278 641494.
